Being a K-pop Fan brings me to National Television

I can't believe that being a K-pop Fan would be a great factor, for me to be shown on a nationwide TV program in our country. Let me share to you how my FanGirling takes me to a remarkable experience.

Last September 2, 2020, I was chosen to be the “Home Partner” on a segment of “Eat Bulaga!” called “Bawal Judgmental!”

First, let me introduce what “Eat Bulaga!” is. For those who didn't know, it is the longest running noontime variety show in the Philippines broadcasted by GMA Network. It started since 1979 and up to now is being loved by many Filipinos. It has been acquired also internationally like in Myanmar and Indonesia.

Second, what is that segment “Bawal Judgmental!” all about? It is a segment of Eat Bulaga! where there will be a studio guest and will be tested by its intuition and judgment by selecting the correct choices out of a group of people with distinctive characteristics, past experiences, and interesting revelations.

Third, what will be the task of a “Home Partner” like me? During this situation called as The New Normal, the show is also streaming online in Facebook and Youtube as no audience were allowed in the studio. Home partner will be the person to help the studio guest in judging the said group of people, where you will be given a chance to ask questions or choose who you think the right people are and win cash prize.

So now, how did I become a Home Partner? Last September 1, 2020 at 10:50 PM, Eat Bulaga! posted on their Facebook Page that they're looking for a “K-POP FAN” to be their Home Partner for the segment Bawal Judgmental! I just followed their instructions and all I did was comment a Selfie with my K-pop Merch, then the City where I live at the moment.

This is truly unexpected and everyone around me including Mami Rose (My Family) saying that I was really lucky because out of the 11,000+ people who commented on that post “I was the one being chosen”. I am really grateful for that and especially to the person who sent that post on one of the K-pop Group Chat that I belong to, the first time I saw it I said to myself that I should join that! Then also to my friend Ivy who mentioned me on that post and telling me to join, because if not for them I probably wouldn't know it and wasn't able to participate.

I actually commented around 8:00 AM, September 2, 2020 then it's not yet 10 minutes has passed but they replied to me privately saying that since I followed the instructions I now have a chance to be the lucky home partner. I just keep following their instructions to me through call then lastly, they said “Congratulations! We now choose you as the Home Partner”, through video call. I was really shocked and excited during that moment but what really surprised me is I have to get ready and be on standby because that is less than 30 minutes prior to the live show! And I'm telling you, this is my first time experiencing all this, and I'm feeling the nervousness all over me! Another thing that made me uneasy, is that for some reasons I can't make it on our own house so I have to transfer to my cousin's house, and thank you because Francis (my cousin) and Lola Fanny (my grandmother) allowed me to do the live show at their place.

The segment “Bawal Judgmental!” lasted for 1 hour and 23 minutes and the studio guest that time is Karel Marquez, a Film and TV Actress; Together with the Hosts: Vic Sotto, Jose Manalo, Ryan Agoncillo, Pauleen Luna and Maine Mendoza. I was really happy to interact with all these celebrities even though we talked and see each other through video call only.

Not just that I was seen in national television, but introducing myself as a K-pop Fan, proudly singing a song of BIGBANG while waving my lightstick, wearing a crown headband and fandom shirt is what truly makes me happier! The show ended successfully, it was really an awesome experience and I can say that this is a great achievement to my FanGirling journey and I think I didn't do anything wrong during the live show. ^^ In the end, I got overwhelmed through the greetings, support and congratulation messages from my family, friends and co-VIPs (fandom). I'm truly happy and thankful for all what happened!

For me, this is another proof that being a K-pop Fan is a great inspiration and motivation that you can do all things to show support to the K-pop group that you love then it will eventually lead you to amazing experiences like this! Especially these days that Hallyu (Korean Wave) is such a big impact not just in Asian countries but now is being recognized globally, so I know that there will be a lot more of opportunities coming!

All I can say is I am proud to be a K-pop Fan and will always be! Since then until now, I have no regrets of becoming one.
