My Korean Dinner :)

Hello everyone! I just wanna share this to you!
One of my happiness; Korean Food!!! Korean Restaurant!!!

After 5 days of work (monday to friday) from 8AM to 7PM finally the weekend is coming, got time to rest! but first of all let me unwind first by having a Korean Dinner last friday.

Thank's God because there is a new Korean Restaurant that just opened near in our place. It only take us 10 minutes ride from our house to the K-Resto.

We arrived around 8PM in this Korean Restaurant. So we are actually having a late dinner.

View of the Korean Restaurant outside "KOPINO"

"KOPINO" is open daily from 11AM until 11PM.
Look what I saw as I enter the Korean Resto...ooooh!~~~

Ice Cream!!!!

Tada!~~~ Lotte Foods Ice Cream. Can't wait to have this later for dessert!
A lot to choose from. Hmmmm!? So excited to choose later =)

They're the one choosing the best table for us to dine. and as we sat on our table the first thing they gave to us is their

"MENU List"

"KOPINO" actually stands for "Korean-Filipino Restaurant"
and as I open their Menu book I see that they're not also serving Korean Foods but also Filipino Foods like Tapsilog mostly are fried rice and egg dishes.

Then after we placed our order, they gave is utensils:)
ooh!~ how excited am I to use these silver chopsticks =) I am still in the practicing stage. I admit that it is kinda hard to eat while eating chopsticks but I will stick to use it that night from the start until I finished eating. So I can really feel like "Korean" =))

and of course, their side dishes!
I am not sure about the others except for the Kimchi (uper center) then Seaweed Soup (upper right as well as lower left) then Egg Omelet (mid right) then seasoned string beans (lower center) I think the one in the mid left is seasoned radish and next to it is carrots and chayote.

After 15 minutes of waiting here you go!!! the foodies woohoo!~~ so excited to know how does it taste?

First, Gimbap Rolls!!! This is so yummy!!! Very tasteful!!! Especially dipping it on the sauce!!! I am sure to order this again whenever I dine again here at Kopino or even in any Korean Restaurant.

Gimbap Rolls

Next to arrive, is their Cucumber Sushi also taste good but the taste comes to plain for me unlike the Gimbap Rolls or I just love it that is why =))

Cucumber Sushi

The last to arrive the yummiest among them all =) Samgyupsal/Pork Belly! with wrapping it on a lettuce with sauce then garlic. So yummy! Very appetizing that I ate 2 sets of it and really wanted for more.

Samgyupsal

so yummy that we didn't notice the time that 1 hour has already passed. I am going home that my tummy was so full and my heart feels happy that I think I will have a good night sleep as I am so satisfied having this king of Korean Dinner. I can say that Korean Foods are really healthy as most of dishes are vegetables on it which really helps our skin look young and great and helps to clean our tummy you know what I mean. Can't wait for my next Korean Restaurant adventure. Hoping to dine soon as many as I can experience different K-Resto especially those authentic Korean Foods as well as Street foods. How better it would be if I was able to visit Korea where I can really say anywhere everywhere are Korean Foods.

Lastly, before paying the bill I chose this Papico Ice Cream just like Ice Pop but chocolate flavor. so yummy!

Papico

Hope you'll like what I've shared right now. I would be happy also to hear from you, your experience also or if you have Korean Restaurant or Korean Food that you can recommend to me.

Introduction

Designated as a Busan monument, along with Oryukdo Island, Taejongdae (태종대) represents Busan, and is especially famous for its rock beach. Featuring its highest peak at 250 meters, there are forests of pine trees and other 200 varieties of trees. Taejongdae was named after the 29th king of Silla Kingdom BC57-AD 935), King TaeJong Mu-Yeol (604-661). King TaeJong had traveled to many places but this was the place he enjoyed shooting arrows.

Under the lighthouse of this resort is a rock called Sinseon Rock, named after the myth that gods and goddesses came down here to relax. At this rock is a figure called Mangbuseok, named after the story of a woman who waited for her husband who had been taken to Japan. Taejongdae is also famous for the ritual of praying for rain, performed when there are droughts, and rain on the 10th of lunar May is called the 'Taejong Rain'. On days with clear skies you can see Japan’s Tsushima Island from the observatory.

Following the meandering Namhangang River

Photo: Dodamsambong Peaks

Mountains and rivers flow naturally through the area of Danyang, making it one of the best places to go for a stroll in spring. Magnificent tall mountains tinged with green have sparkling blue rivers draping down their slopes, resulting in the stunning backdrop of the Namhangang River. Danyang is full of picturesque views and fascinating natural features. Sights not to be missed include the mysterious Gosu Cave, Dodamsambong Peaks, which rise like islands on the river, and the TV drama set of the show Ondal.

Dodamsambong Peak & Seongmun

Photo: Dodamsambong Peaks (left) / Seongmun (right) The three Dodamsambong Peaks stand like sentinels jutting out of the Namhangang River, adding unique beauty to an otherwise ordinary river landscape. At dawn in spring and fall, mist slowly rises like a mirage in the desert, an awe-inspiring sight to take in during sunrise.

Cross the parking lot and walk up about 200 meters, where you will find the rainbow-shaped Seongmun, a gate with towering pillars made of the limestone. This structure had been used as the entrance to the limestone caves that collapsed.

Danuri Aquarium

The Namhangang River that flows across Danyang is called a paradise of freshwater fish for its numerous rapids and stones that create favorable environmental conditions for freshwater fish to inhabit. Danuri Aquarium is where you can meet the fish of the Namhangang River. A variety of fish live upstream, downstream, and in the middle of the river, coming in all different shapes and sizes.

The 102 water tanks in the aquarium showcase over 22,000 species of fish, including 187 kinds of freshwater fish from Korea and overseas. In particular, sturgeons, mandarin fish, and other freshwater sea dwellers keep visitors captivated as they swim in a large aquarium measuring 8 meters in height.
The aquarium also houses exotic species from all around the world, including China’s endangered hongryong (red dragon fish), which are said to bring good luck, and the Amazon's giant arapaima.

From the shuttle bus stop to Iljumun Gate, a total of 50 large buildings are lined up along the narrow mountain valley. The temples are modern concrete buildings, which gives visitors the impression of being in a village deep in the mountains. Gosu Cave

Geographically, the area of Danyang has large deposits of limestone spread out across the region, and thus many caves have formed over millions of years. Gosu is one of Danyang’s most popular caves, and was formed about 450 million years ago. The cave features beautiful stalactites, stalagmites, and stone pillars. Gosu Cave is the entrance to a network of tunnels that stretches about 1.7 kilometers into the earth, and is open to the public. The place called Plaza is laid out with giant stalactites coming down as much as 10 meters from the ceiling.  There is also a sculpture of a lion, which combines with the beautiful curtain-like stalactites into what resembles a mysterious underground palace.

Suyanggae Prehistory Museum

The region of Suyanggae is the largest prehistoric site in Korea. The stone toolkits were discovered by a team from Chungbuk National University in 1983 during a project to excavate historical remains around the site, which was soon going to be submerged due to the construction of the Chungju Dam. Over 30,000 prehistoric remains were unearthed, and were safely relocated to the museum to be put on display. The museum contains a multitude of prehistoric stone tools, such as bifaces and hand axes. The site is now well-known for representing the late Stone Age in Korea.

Inside the museum, stone toolkits made in a variety of manners are on display for visitors. In the outdoor exhibition space, statues of humans from the prehistoric era were erected in order to show the process of hunting and gathering.

The museum provides detailed explanations and maps that mark the prehistoric sites of Danyang. Through the museum, visitors can come closer to learning about the life and wisdom of our Paleolithic ancestors.

Danyang Silla Jeokseongbi Stone Stele & Danyang Jeokseong Fortress

Photo: Danyang Jeokseong Fortress (left) / Danyang Silla Jeokseongbi Stone Stele (right) About a 15-minute walk from the back side of the Danyang rest stop (Jungang Expressway, Chuncheon direction) lies an ancient mountain fortress with long, hard-earned history of 1,500 years. Called Danyang Jeokseong Fortress, it has a height of 4 meters on the outer walls and 3 meters on the inner part. The kingdom of Silla, based in the Gyeongsang-do region, seized the area of Danyang from the Goguryeo Kingdom and built the fortress. Inside the fortress is Silla Jeokseongbi Stone Stele, which was erected to represent stability for the life of the citizens of the occupied territories. Silla Jeokseongbi is wide at the top and narrows toward the bottom, and due to being damaged, some words engraved in the upper part of stone are hard to make out, however, 288 characters currently remain. The words written in the stele refer to the reward for those who went to the war to take over the Danyang region in submission to the King’s order, and promised compensation for those who remain loyal to the Silla Kingdom.

What's in that pick-a-nic basket?

DINNING What’s in that pick-a-nic basket?

The article courtesy of Seoul magazine

Concrete steps transformed into a beautiful work of art

Come on, winter, end already! We need to be having ourselves some picnicking. Korea has its own picnic traditions, usually gimbap rolls and dosirak lunch boxes, though fried chicken may also make an appearance. It also isn’t surprising to see scooters zooming around picnic areas, delivering everything deliverable. For this reason, we’ve put together a list of takeout places that take care of everything – if you bring along a lunch like any of these, no one could ever think that you’re one sandwich short of a picnic.

Lee's Roll 리김밥

In Korea, a picnic demands gimbap, and there are plenty of interesting gourmet kimbap concoctions available these days. But before the gourmet gimbap trend happened, there was Lee's Roll (a.k.a. Lee Gimbap), an outpost outside Apgujeong Station serving plump, sloppy, stuffed gimbap monsters so big there’s hardly room for rice. Fans of the classic rolls of seaweed around fresh ingredients shouldn’t worry; the regular players in the gimbap world – kimchi, canned tuna, veggies, cheese – make their presence known. But then comes the double cheese. Then the bulgogi. Then the mushroom bulgogi. Lee Gimbap was the first to upgrade its cheeses to Gouda and Edam. (Yes, one can order an Edam Gouda Gimbap roll.) Another specialty is the Spicy Nut Gimbap that has chili pepper with anchovy and nuts fried in a sweet sauce. If you’re in a hurry, they have some all set out like a delicatessen, so just grab and go.
Gimbap-Rollen mit Thunfisch und bulgogi

Pigniq Brooklyn-inspired BBQ 피그닉 브루클린

If you’re really thinking of going on a picnic, Sinsa’s new Brooklyn-style BBQ joint Pigniq is more than just your most aptly named option. But let’s address the obvious question nagging anyone familiar with this typically southern dish: “New York has barbecue?” Over the past 10 years, a serious barbecue scene has developed in New York City, particularly in Brooklyn. What makes Brooklyn barbeque different from that of other regions is that it has no specific style or philosophy; innovative and modern, it is known for borrowing from multiple regional styles.
Pigniq takes this attitude and brings Korean style into it. The restaurant has three meats available: pork, chicken and beef. Their Mother-In-Law sandwich comes with barbecued brisket, kimchi sautéed in butter, broccoli coleslaw, sauce and mayonnaise. The Pigniq Sampler is a perfect choice for a group take-out, arriving with barbecued beef, pulled pork, pork rib, polish sausage, fried potatoes, coleslaw, grilled corn, salad and bread rolls. Get this sampler platter to go and grab a draft of Alley Kat, the makings of a perfect barbecue picnic near the Hangang River.
Pigniq Sampler

ManPpo 만뽀

This little Japanese-Korean fusion place fits right in with the scrappy Hongdae vibe. They’re not on a main strip, but they’re not hard to find, just one alley back from Sangsu Station, Exit 1. ManPpo initially made a name for itself serving Japanese versions of the spicy Korean-Chinese seafood noodle dish jjamppong. You can also pick up its famous ManPpo Bento box to go – possibly the most picnic-friendly meal idea after the gimbap. Trays are filled with rice, crispy grilled fish, pork cutlet, cabbage salad, croquettes and all the other fun parts of a Japanese lunch. The most popular bento box is the Bulgogi Gyudon, which is a rice bowl topped with marinated beef and mushrooms. The eatery’s Toridon meal, a rice bowl topped with chicken marinated in a house sauce, is also a must-try. ManPpo’s owners are very strict about using fresh ingredients – they even make their own sauce and oil – and the takeout packages come in eco-friendly containers. The final product is quality food that comes conveniently packed, perfect for a picnic at the nearby Seonyudo Park or Seoul World Cup Stadium.
