[Korea] Introducing “Taegeukgi-gil Street“

Korea Tourism Organization has introduced a new street, known as the “taegeukgi-gil (the Korean flag street)” whereby a total 240 flags are to be hung over a street fluttering around Hyoja-dong area near the tourist hotspot, Gyeongbokgung Palace. Another similar street introduced can be found at the street in front of the Cheongwadae (Blue House). The display of taegeukgi will be put up 24 hours from March 1, 2015 until the end of the year.

Taegeukgi-gil is to offer foreign travelers not only the aesthetic beauty of the Korean flags along with stunning Gyeongbokgung Palace on the background but also to allow travelers learn about the meaning of Gwangbok (Restoration of Light) in celebration of nation’s 70th anniversary and victory commemoration over Japan, which liberated Korea from colonial rule.
