Hoengseong Hanu Festival will be taking place at the waterfront of Seomgang River Recreational Resort, kicking off October 7, 2015 and running five days until October 11. Hanu
(Korean beef) is a renowned local specialty of Hoengseong. The theme of
this year’s festival is “Matbo-so (Taste), Jeulgi-so (Enjoy),
Swieoga-so (Relax).” The slogan uses a play on words, ending each word
with “so,” meaning cattle in Korean.
A variety of exciting events have been prepared, including performances by famous musicians and a balloon parade. There are also fun hands-on activities to participate in, such as a plowing experience, wearing hanu masks and even a heavy stone lifting competition to show off one’s strength.
