The tradition of Gimjang will be celebrated during the Seoul Kimchi Making & Sharing Festival from November 6 to 8, 2015.
The festival will take place at City Hall (Seoul Plaza), Gwanghwamun Square, Taepyeongno and Sejongdaero
streets. Korea Tourism Organization is looking for international participants for this unique cultural festival.
Gimjang refers to the
preparation of large quantities of kimchi to eat throughout winter,
proudly being listed on UNESCO’s Intangible Cultural Heritage of
Humanity List as of 2013.
The
festival will promote a sense of community through various programs
which include making large quantities of kimchi, trying on traditional
costumes, enjoying nongak (traditional Korean farmers’ music) and more!
The festival will run three
rounds of the program, recruiting a total of 450 international
participants
through a first-come, first-served basis. Admission to the
festival is free of charge. All who are interested can submit their
application along with a signed agreement on collection and use of
personal information to hallyu@knto.or.kr
by November 3, 2015.
